In May a team from Campus House will be participating in Sunshine Gospel Ministries’ BridgeBuilders Program. Sunshine Gospel Ministries is located in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood and dates back to 1905 when it was founded by Moody Bible Church as a rescue mission for unwed mothers. Sunshine’s current mission is to seek renewal in Chicago through discipleship, mercy, and justice ministries. Their Bridgebuilder program is structured with a listen, learn and serve model. Our week in Chicago will include listening to ways in which God is working in different urban contexts by being exposed to some of these environments. There will be an educational component that will explore God’s justice and mercy, His heart for the poor, and a biblical response to race, class, and other similar topics. Lastly, their will be a missional component of serving in some of these contexts.
